Maquette to Masterpiece

Year 6 children were shown how the famous English sculptor, Henry Moore, turned an idea into a maquette and then increased the size a thousand times to produce his huge sculptures. They looked at the materials he used such as plaster, elm, marble, bronze and even wax. They looked at the techniques he used like molding, carving, and welding. Everyone even knows how to determine the number of any one sculpture that was copied and re-molded and then shipped around the world.
