Admissions

The Staff, Governing Board and Pupils of Sandringham Primary School would welcome you to apply for a place at our school. To do this you must follow the correct process for your child's age as detailed below. We are a school maintained by London Borough of Newham which means they are the admission authority for this school. All applications for this school must be made through London Borough of Newham's Pupil's Services and not the school.

Our Determined Arrangements for the school year starting in September 2025 are:

Starting Primary School

Reception Admission for September 2025 entry

For children born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021, their parents or carers must apply for them to start an Infant or primary school (reception class) in September 2025.  The closing date is Monday 15 January 2025.

National closing date for on time reception applications - Wednesday 15 January 2025

National offer date for on time reception applications – Wednesday 16 April 2025

All reception 2025 applications must be made through the family’s home local authority. Every family must apply to their home borough. This means if a family live in Newham they must apply through Newham even if their child attends a nursery school outside of Newham, or they are only interested in reception classes in another borough.

Remember, parents/carers must apply for a place, even if:

  • They want their child to go to the local school

Or

  • Their child has an older brother or sister at the school

Or

  • They want their child to start reception in the school where they are attending nursery.

Applications received after national closing day will be known as late applications. These applications cannot be considered for places until all on time applicants have their places. For all popular schools all places are usually already offered to on time applicants before late applicants can be considered, so applying on time is really important.

Before submitting a reception application, we strongly recommend all families read the “We are going to school” guide and find out information about the school you are interested in.

In Year Admissions into Primary School (aka mid term and mid phase)

If a family arrives in Newham during the school year 2024/2025 and their child needs a school place they must complete an In Year form naming their preferred schools. Please see the In Year admissions link below.

In Year admissions

School places are usually offered within 10 days. The place offered may not be at the school the family prefers as that school may not have a suitable place available. In Year admissions are for 01 September 2024 to 22 July 2025 (Year Groups: Reception to Year 6).

Before submitting a junior school application we strongly recommend all families read the "We are going to school" prospectus listed above and find out information about the school you are interested in.
