Start and end of the school day

At Sandringham we operate a staggered start and end of the school day meaning that different year groups start and end at different times. This allows us to safely manage a very large number of children and parents and for teachers to greet and walk their children into class in a calm manner.

For this staggered approach to work successfully we ask children and parents to line up with their year group either on Henderson Road for Early Years and Key Stage one children and on Sandringham Road for Key Stage Two children. Staff are always on hand to support parents and show them where to line up. In the Key Stage One playground we operate a one way system- entering from Henderson Road and leaving through Sandringham Road.

For families who have children in multiple year groups at different or even sometimes similar times, please come though the Henderson Road Gate with the child whose start time is the earliest and you will be either able to wait with your other child or if they are in KS2 they can walk up to their classroom. 

Wet day arrangements

On wet days we still want to ensure a calm and safe start for all of our children and so will continue to use the one way system of entry and exit points. The one way system allows us to monitor exits and entrances to the site when there are large volumes of children and parents on the site while gates are open to roads. It is particularly important  that on a rainy day we maintain this approach for the safety of our children due to the increased flow of people and reduced visibility due to umbrellas. 

However to reflect the inclement weather the following arrangements will be in place:

Reception
Drop off and collection at the classroom room external door.

Key Stage One
Drop off at the main entrance, then the children will walk to their classrooms with the support of adults positioned along the ground floor corridor.
At the end of the day the normal exit arrangements will be in place. 

Key Stage Two
Drop off at the playground gates, then the children will walk up the stairs to their classrooms with the support of adults.
At the end of the day the normal exit arrangements will be in place but once the majority of children have been collected, the teachers will take the remaining children to the main entrance and under cover. 

Supporting parents / carers with multiple children on wet days 
To support parents with multiple drop off points, we allow parents to come through the Henderson Road entrance from 8:35am and children in Key Stage Two can enter using the main building entrance. For Reception and Key Stage One, lines are allowed to go straight into school from 8:35am. 

Lunchtimes

Our lunch times are split so there is enough space and time for all of our children to enjoy a happy and safe lunch time.

Reception: 11:20 - 12:20

Year One: 11:30 - 12:30

Year Two: 11:45 - 12:45

Year Three: 11:50-12:50

Year Four: 12:10 - 1:10

Year Five and Six: 12:30-1:30

Typical School Day

All children from Reception to Year Six have fortnightly specialist lessons and over the year will have Art and Design/ Design Technology, Music, Spanish and Drama/ Oracy.
