We are committed to ensuring children at Sandringham Primary School and Daycare are safe. Safeguarding our school community is of paramount importance. We ensure that all our staff are aware of, and have the skills to deal with, any child protection or safeguarding concerns. We have robust recruitment procedures and professional development programmes which ensure that all our staff uphold our strong ethos and values.

Your child's safety and welfare is of paramount importance, overriding all other considerations. Schools are legally required to follow set procedures outlined in the DfE Keeping Children Safe in Education September 2020 document which forms the foundations for our own Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. We are also required to have a Lead Child Protection Officer to report any obvious or suspected cases of child abuse, which includes non-accidental injury, severe physical neglect, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, gang affiliation, sexual exploitation, radicalisation or female genital mutilation.

This procedure is intended to protect children at risk or provide support to avoid the risk. Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is available from the school office on request. It is also available on the school website in the policies section.

If you have a concern about a child's safety please do not hesitate to speak to one of our staff members. Alternatively you may contact our Chair of Governors, Mr Curtin. Please ask at the office for contact details. To support your at home with their safeguarding here are some websites we find supportive and age appropriate:

Operation Encompass

As part of our safeguarding procedures we are taking part in Operation Encompass.

Operation encompass is Newham Police and Education safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass will report to schools the following school day if a child  has exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff, trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.

More information can be found at the Operation Encompass website: http://www.operationencompass.org/
